It prices painting, epoxy and terrazzo work from the job's real measurements, your crew's production rates and the job's ZIP code, then turns the result into a quote the customer can approve.
What good contractor estimating software should do
A spreadsheet can multiply square feet by a rate. Real estimating software has to get the parts right that cost contractors money:
- Hours, not just rates. Labor is most of the cost on painting and coating jobs, so the estimate should come from production rates for each surface or system, adjusted for condition, height and access.
- Prep and repairs as their own lines. Crack repair, grinding, moisture mitigation, drywall patches and wallpaper removal change the job. They shouldn't hide inside a base rate.
- Local prices. The same job costs very different amounts in rural Pennsylvania and Manhattan. Pricing should follow the job's ZIP code.
- Profit you can see before you send. Margin and markup aren't the same thing. You should know your gross profit on a job before the customer does.
- A quote customers can say yes to. Clear scope, options at different price points, and a simple way to approve.
